The end of an era

Tonight I watched the final thing that's still outstanding on TV. Auf Weidersehen pet finished for good with a quick two-parter. Everything else will just be a repeat, or The simpsons (which isn't what it used to be). Then again there's always Football.

Those two episodes were enough to show why the show was fantastic. Better than anything else that's currently showing new episodes. We need more comedy like that.

Before I leave with my fic update let me just say Metroid Prime 2 is the best game of 2004. I haven't played anything so addictive in ages.

Merry Christmas and a Happy new year

Or whatever you celebrate, just be happy.

On a side note My CAD T-shirt arrived today. Brilliant fit and looks cool. I'll be wearing it all Christmas Day.

My Brother and I have a separate tradition, we open the presents we gave each other at 8pm on Xmas eve. I got The Pub Landlord's "..And a glass of white wine for the lady". If you're not british you probably won't have a clue who Al Murray is but he's a comedy genius.

This DVD isn't as good as his last stand-up DVD "My Gaff, My Rules", but it's still top notch. His comedy is observational from the point of view of a proud old-fashioned British Landlord.

No fanfic writing, it's Xmas Eve.

British comedy awards, the only real british Joke this year.

Why did they bother this year? We all know BBC, ITV and Channel 4 don't have a sense of humour. They've abandoned all the best actual comedies have replaced them with characters that are funny because they are awful.

Let's look at the idiotcy.

Best international comedy award, One of the three nominees was Sex in the City! WTF? It's not a comedy. It's a sexed up chick flick shrunk down to TV form. What they could've added: Malcom in the middle, Oliver Beene, Will and Grace. I guess it has to be a show that's on the 5 main terrestial channels to have a chance of winning.

At least the award went to something worthy, The Simpsons. The best thing on TV at the moment (well since they canned Futurama anyway). Funniest moment of the night was Matt Greoning's speech and Stephen Hawkings bit. Although MG looked much bigger than I thought he would look.

Best Comedy Drama ha? How could you not include Auf Weidersehen Pet in the list. In fact it should've won hands down being the only one that's funny.

Oh and Comedy Entertainment program + I'm a celebrity get my out of here = you're kidding right. It's a reality show that's about as funny as me taking a shit. It's also as entertaining as me taking a shit. Other nominees could've included They think it's all over, oh wait the BBC canned that for some stupid reason.

I'm actually quite scared about The Simpsons now. With Little Britain and I'm alan Partridge being hailed as brilliant by Matt, I can see the show being more and more about terrible characters than great lines.

If any british TV companies are reading this (which I very much doubt), could you please make a sitcom that rivals the brilliance of the following shows: Auf wiedersehen pet, Time gentlemen please, My Family, Only fools and Horses, Father Ted, The Simpsons, Futurama, Family guy, Porridge, Open all hours, Friends, Fraiser, Cheers, 3rd rock from the sun and a hell of a lot more.

It's would stop me hating Little Britain and give me something to watch on TV, besides Kids TV, games related programs and Sky one Sunday.

3 More days to Christmas, I think I'll go offline and write some more on Chaos Demons.

May 2005 bring us a show that's funny and bring you all happiness.

Edit: 2 days, I forgot it was past 00:00

Christmas! oops did I just say a dirty word?

It's that time of year again. The one day in the whole 365 that's (as far as the majority goes) all about spending times with your family and showing how much you love them. But whenever there's something good there's something bad to balance it out.

Killjoys and those hellbent on making everything as PC as possible have tried to ban most of what makes Christmas Christmas. Now I'd be the first to admit that we do go a little over the top with it but it's the only day that matters for us.

Technology has gotten more and more advanced yet me seem to work harder than ever. It's a very stressful age to live in and Christmas and similar holidays that happen around 25th dec are the one time where it doesn't matter.

I love christmas, mainly because it's always been good. And since Christianity is one of the main religions, with many still chosing to celebrate christmas anyway, I don't see why it can't be our main holiday. What's so offensive about it anyway? It's not like we take offense at some of the other religions holidays. We except them why can't they accept ours.

Before I continue I must say that I'm not really a christian. I don't really follow any one religion just follow what I believe applies to today's world. Christmas is one of these things. It's no longer JUST about jesus birth, but about the togetherness of family and a day set aside for everybody to just relax.

4 More days to go. I can't wait.

Fic update: I've been leaving the net too late to write anything like I normally do. I usually only write if I finish at 00:00, but these days I'm on until 01:00. Chapter 4 of Chaos Demons is definately half-way through (can't remember if I said that earlier).

Sports personality 2004

I drifted in and out of this but something shocked me. They were talking about Paula Radcliff, one of our athlete runners. How they could consider her is beyond me. If Someone like David Beckham decided they couldn't play football anymore half way through a world contest and just stopped he'd be hung. They represent OUR country and if they underperform they are criticized.

Yet here she ran, gave up towards the end and got sympathy? WTF? If she didn't feel like she could do it she shouldn't have done it. END OF STORY! Further proof the some of us brits are idiots. As if Pop idol, strictly come dancing and X-factor wasn't proof enough.

My two cents on Sonic X

Being a long term Sonic fan when I first heard of Sonic X I was thrilled. A new Sonic cartoon that hopefully stays true to the games. Well it's been out for a while now and after the discussions on TGN and the EN forums I thought I'd give my two cents on the cartoon.

I am a SegaSonic purist, which means I only care about the games. The other universes while fun, failed to portray the games properly. SatAM had numerous characters and locations they added themselves. The Anime was well weird. AoSTH? two words Scratch and Grounder. Underground was nothing special in fact I don't even remember it.

This list of things in Sonic X seems alright doesn't it: Station Square, adaptation of the two adventure games, the persuit for the Chaos Emeralds being the main theme, Characters from the latest games (including Knuckles who was sorely left out beforehand), Super Sonic.

Yet there's so much I hate about it.

First I'm not a fan of this two worlds thing. The term Mobius was made up by Sega of America, it was never the name of the world Sonic lived on. The games only ever mentioned the name of the planet once, that was EARTH!

Obviously it cannot be set in today's Earth. Giant animals aren't common place. I've always thought of it as a world far in the future. People have evolved and Technology has progressed (look at ARK and realise that was made 50 years before Adventure 2 at least). The locations do look a lot like todays world though which may suggest a parallel world. It could even just be another planet called Earth it doesn't have to be ours.

Looking back levels like Starlight seem to suggest city rooftops, and then there's the whole question about the Robotnik family tree. Did Eggman come from another Earth and somehow coincidentally happen to find himself back in the world he came from? Ludicrous.

They dug their own grave by starting with the Tornado 2 then later doing the Adventure adaptation. In Sonic Adventure the Tornado 1 becomes the Tornado 2, it's a turning point in Tails' story.

They obviously liked SatAM because they re-used the power rings. WTF? The rings are simply small doses of Chaos Energy that are used to shield a person/Heal a machine. The fact that Sonic goes into overdrive after touching just one seems too much and not like the games at all.

There are also too many humans characters and childish robots. Chris and his family, Danny, Boucome, etc are all not necessary and end up just being annoying.

They rushed through the best parts, the Adventure adaptations. They are so many minor mistakes I'm not even going to list them here.

Then there's the voices. It's so annoying to hear Tails speak in any format. He was such a cool character yet no matter what they do they cannot pick a voice that isn't annoying. The English Anime voice is a lot worse than Sonic X's but it's still bad. They need to bring in Nancy Cartwright quick (she did Bart and a lot of the Kids in The Simpsons, so she knows how to make an 8 year old boy sound good). However the cartoons aren't the only ones at fault here. Sonic Team's choice for Tails was wrong.

Then there's Rouge's voice. SegaSonic = a soft voice that hides her manipulative nature well, Sonic X = A 30 year old whore. I cringed the first time I heard it.

The Action started off slow but did pick up. I'm actually still looking forward to later episodes as I saw a Super Sonic vs Super Shadow fight on www.sonic-gif.com. Every Sonic fan in the world is wanting that.

Well anyway it's a mixed bag. I would say it's not as good as the fairly dark SatAM, but matches the great portrayal of characters seen in the Anime. In fact I rate Sonic X better than the anime due to the Anime's poor English Voices. Then you have the rest of the crap with SegaSonic beating everything.

Am I missing something...?

(NB copy and paste job from my TGN topic in off topic)

Today Little Britain moved to BBC1. I thought I'd give it a chance seeing as how TV is devoid of comedy these days.

How on god's green earth is this crap considered comedy. Comedy makes you laugh people, not snigger, not smile, but laugh until your face hurts.

The characters are crap. The only one you can relate to is the Chav/townie lass. The closest thing to Harry Enfield's classic Kevin and Perry.

In fact the only thing I found funny was the announcer, and even then that was ocasional as it actually had jokes.

Why am I ranting? Well this gringeworthy character crap is the only new comedy we seem to be getting. What happened to the sitcom?

How come actually funny stuff like Futurama, Family guy, Only fools and horses, My Family, Father ted, They think it's all over, Faulty towers, Time Gentlemen Please, etc all disappear. Doomed to be repeated late at night/just before prime on Sky.

It's not just Little Britain. The Office and I'm alan Partridge are similar in that it contains very little actual funny stuff. The height of comedy has been a stupid dance. A dance for christs sake.

Now I'm not against these shows, I just don't want people to think this is the sort of stuff the terrestial channels should be showing instead of sitcoms.

I want a new Only fools and horses or a new Father Ted. Not this crap.

--------

However I think I'll give The Office another chance sometime. Perhaps it is unfair to add it to that list.

No new fanfic update this time. Now that I've finished Mario DS with all the stars I have no distractions.

fic update 2

I have nothing interesting to post about. My DS is taking up too much of my time.

I have managed to finish Chaos theory and plan chapter 3 of Chaos Demons. Chapter 2 is up if I haven't told you already.
