"Fault" Found!......Apparantly

So E3 is just around the corner and so game news is spreading like wildfire. Unable to wait until E3 SEGA had released shitloads of new info. In particular details on the New Sonic game.

It's funny how with Sonic it's always a race to see who can give the Element that "Proves" the game will be shit. Wouldn't you know it the second a new character has been revealed...BOOM! the criticism comes thick and fast.

Forget about the comeback of the Adventure stages or the other gameplay features mentioned.

Forget about the awesome graphics that truely show the next gen's power.

No a new character is revealed and therefore the game will be shit.

Am I the only one who see a problem here. Yes Sonic Team have a serious problem with adding a couple of new characters every game but so what? Having more characters is a blessing isn't it, it gives more to play.

Of course then you have the problem of giving each character a fair share of the game (Sonic Adventure 2) or giving Sonic most of the game (Sonic Adventure). Whatever you do you're going to upset someone as the ones that want more Sonic might have to settle with a balance, and those that want balance might have to settle with loads of Sonic.

On the other hand what many would really like to see is the abandonment of the three styles and making the game purely about speed, and having each character blast through the same levels with their own unique moves. Much like with the 2D games. That I agree with.

But who's to say it isn't going to happen this time.

We already know this new character (who I'm going to call Shine, though he has no official name yet) will be playable. And Shadow is with them in the promo poster. What does all this mean? Similar characters, similar style of gameplay (Hopefully).

I find it odd that Sonic is singled out for extremely harsh criticism. If it was that fat plumber everyone would be cumming in their pants, despite the fact that with the excpetion of the Mario Kart games and the Paper Mario/Mario and Luigi games, Mario has been all Mario Party 836565, GBA ports and "insert sport title here". Even Mario Sunshine felt more like something to tie you over than a completely new title, and therefore disappointed in the same way Shadow and Heroes did. In fact you have to go back to 1996 for the last great tradional Mario game.

Yet does anyone care? No, Mario still excites people everywhere I go.

Yet a new Sonic game can't even reveal a new character in an as of yet unplayed media without people condemning it to hell in a matter of seconds.

So those that know me from my message boards might be wondering why I haven't commented on the subject. Why bother? More people seem to be obsessed with the new character more than any aspect the game has to offer so far and no-one's even played it yet.

All this also applies to Sonic Rivals.

Anything remotely near a fault seems to be jumped on by people, even Sonic fans, when it comes to Sonic, more so than ANYTHING ELSE.

It's a new Sonic game so of course I'm excited about it. However I can't possibly make a judgement on the game, or even a prediction, at this moment in time. It could be a disappointing game it could be the return to form many have been waiting for.

I just hope when the latter happens everyone that has doubted the blue blur will eat their words, and realise they've been so quick to judge. Though no doubt their response will be "finally, took them long enough".
