Jack thompson, enemy to gaming

I don't know why he's on a crusade against gamers. Perhaps a gamer molested him as a child, the thing is he's a very dangerous man who's a threat to good mature gaming everywhere.

If you don't know Jack Thompson is the idiotic Lawyer who insists any crime that could, even in the slightest, be linked to videogames, is the fault of the developers who make videogames. He's on a crusade to stop t3h evil games being made.

Recently his actions have been:
1. Accusing Rockstar of corrupting America's youth by means of the INDEPENDANT MOD Hot coffee
2. Hit out at EA for having nude models, despite being completely censored by blur, in The sims
3. Hit out at Killer 7 for being twisted, gory and has a sex scene.

1. Hot coffee was not done by Rockstar. It may have been something they did but they since removed it. Now correct me if I'm wrong but if a censor would make a rating higher than what you want because of a feature, you would remove that feature. Surprise Surprise, they did.

They (as in Jack and Hilary Clinton) may have a point about the rating needing to be higher in light of the mod, from "R" to "AO" (Why are American rating systems so much more awkward). But that's it, move on already.

2. Nudity is blurred. Do I have to explain why that's acceptable?

Of course not. Though The Sims is meant to be the gaming equivalent of a reality show. Create characters and see what happens. Now I would like to point out more hysteria regarding a certain housemates actions on Big Brother (UK version). Kinga got drunk and masterbated (or simulated masterbation) with a wine bottle.

People then blamed CHANNEL 4 for showing the acts of housemate in a reality show that is not only about reality but about videotaping everything that happens in that house.

It was also Live. You don't censor out the swearing at footy matches, hell you don't do it on highlight shows.

The point is you can't have Reality and Restrictions. Picking out The sims is a sign of desperation

3. Killer 7 is a game about being weird and twisted. For that reason it is rated Mature/18. The sex scene you talk about contains absolutely no nudity. The girl rides the bloke wearing a skirt covering up any penetration and no boobs are shown. I've seen more nudity in a 15 rated movie. So I really do not see your point.

By LAW minors are not meant to be playing this game.

It's not the developers fault is the store clerks sell the game illegally, or a parent's ignorance brings the game into their child's hands. I was in GAME the other day and there was the kid, couldn't be older than 10, picking out GTA:SA from the pre-owned section. The parent would've bought it for him and I felt like giving her a piece of my mind.

Do they think those symbols mean anything different for games than they do for movies? No they don't. All Developers/publishers/censors can do is rate the product appropriately. If Kids get their hands on these titles then blame is not on them, but on parents/stores.

Any idiot can see that, except of course Jack Thompson.

VGcats and CAD articles on the matter were very funny and showed his ignorance.

Your crusade against gaming must stop Mr Thompson. You don't have any facts and you're angering a community. A community of Hardcore gamers, and trust me that's a very big community.
